Who determines the future of food?

Genetic modification vs organic farming, low incomes vs obesity… Research plays a huge part in shaping the future of our food system, but who makes the decisions about where this research is headed?

Is research best left in the hands of the scientists or should we all have a say in how our food system develops? Is science research too strongly influenced by the demands of large multinational corporations?

What do you think? Join us for a lively discussion as part of the EAT! NewcastleGateshead 2012 festival.

This open discussion will be chaired by Tom Wakeford from the University of Edinburgh.  Speakers include Carlo Leifert from the Nafferton Ecological Farming Group.
